Experiencing the thinning of your edges or excessive shedding of your natural afro hair can be a traumatic experience. While hair loss takes place as a result of a myriad of factors like tight hairstyles, illness or stress, it’s not an experience that you have to go through alone. One of the ways to revitalize and regrow your thinning edges is our Black Castor Oil. But what are the benefits of Castor oil and how can you use it to regrow your edges?
Can I Use Castor Oil For Hair Growth?
Castor oil can increase hair growth as it consists of fatty acids called ricinoleic acid. When applied to your scalp, it allows an increased flow of blood to the roots of your hair. In this way, regular use of castor oil can improve blood circulation on your scalp, which encourages the growth of new strands.
Castor oil can also act as an anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial agent to boost the edges of your hair. Its properties can help remove toxins from the scalp, which creates a nourishing environment for your edges so they can grow back healthier.
Tips to Regrow Your Edges With Castor Oil
Here are five ways that our Black Castor Oil can help you regrow your edges:
- Massage Scalp with Castor Oil to Stimulate Hair Growth
Use massaging techniques as part of your edges regimen to start the blood flow within your hairline. If done consistently, you will begin to notice a big difference with your edges. Dab three to five drops of our Black Castor oil onto your fingertips. Then, about three times a week, massage your edges for around 15 minutes.
- Use Satin To Wrap Your Hair With Or To Sleep On
Just before you go to bed, massage three to five drops of our Black Castor oil onto your edges using slow motions in a circle. Then wrap your hair up using a satin cap or sleep on a satin pillowcase. Unlike satin, a cotton pillowcase will absorb the natural oils in our hair which is not ideal considering afro hair is naturally dry in texture. - Keep Your Edges Moisturised With A Treatment Mask
As well as keeping your natural curls moisturized during the night, you also need to keep it moisturized during the day. To give your edges more attention at least once a week, why not try a treatment mask? Begin by mixing three to five drops of Our Coconut Oil and Our Castor Oil in a bowl.
Then massage your scalp using this mixture, making sure that you massage your edges more. Leave this mixture on for at least 30 minutes. You can also create a steam-like environment for conditioning by wrapping your hair in a satin cap and working out for 30 minutes. After this amount of time, rinse your hair with a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner.
- Cleanse Edges from Product Buildup
The product will inevitably build upon your edges as you try to keep them moisturized. However, too much product buildup can cause breakage and further hair loss. Wash your edges gently to get rid of dirt, oil, and makeup using a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner. Get rid of more challenging residue from your afro hair with a clarifying shampoo. After using a clarifying shampoo, remember to use the massaging technique above to moisturize your hair with our Black Castor Oil again.
- Have Patience With The Castor Oil Regime
Ditch the tight hairstyles, harsh chemicals and hair dye colours when allowing your edges to grow again. Doing this lessens tension, heavy jelling, pulling, or brushing on your hairline. Black Castor Oil does take a while to work, but your patience will reward you with the restoration of your hair’s edges. Be consistent with this regime for at least two months to start seeing better results.
Growing your edges back can take time. But remember that nothing great comes easy, which means that you need to stick with this routine to get your edges into better shape. Start by getting our Black Castor oil and Coconut Oil to regrow your edges.
